About me: I am Taylor Washington, 16 year-old African American who loves to play tennis. I have played tennis since I was about 5 years old and haven’t stopped yet. I play almost every day of the week, while trying to balance schoolwork, and I usually play in tournaments over the weekend. Occasionally I play in national tournaments around the country. I also am a huge fan of chemistry. It is my favorite subject and I think I might major in it. I also love to watch a few episodes of TV, like House, NCIS and The Office. I don’t have much free time, as I am always playing or teaching tennis and doing homework. But I do find a nice quiet time to myself once and a while and I like taking naps then. My whole life I’ve lived in White Bear Lake, and I’m not too fond of it because I would rather be in the middle of a city. I also don’t like the cold weather of Minnesota; Texas would be nice. This summer I went to John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels, TX and I absolutely loved it. My outside of school tennis team went down there together and we had a blast. I also went to California for a Junior Team Tennis Championship representing the Northern Section (MN, ND, SD, WI) and came in 13th out of 17 teams… not bad for the worst section in the country. I enjoy reading a book if it’s interesting, anything too out of the ordinary or science fiction or old time history books just make me heave. I love adventure books or mystery books, as I like adventure and mystery movies. I also take part in the “Sika Street Team,” my private tennis coach’s band. They have a band in Minnesota and I help promote by handing out CD’s and going to concerts. They have travelled to Texas and California to perform at different venues… very cool! I also love eating, it is such a pastime for me, and I sometimes don’t even know I’m doing it. But I guess that’s natural because I’m a “growing teen” and I need food.
