 Keith Hetsko

Keith Hetsko has wasted little time restoring the men's tennis program at The University of Scranton. His love of the game and keen eye for talent has already paid off major dividends in just two seasons.  His overall record of 16-13 (.552), includes an 11-win season this past year, which is believed to be the most wins for the program since 1981. The Royals also posted their first winning season since 2000.In his first year at the helm, in 2007, he took a roster that was made up almost entirely of freshmen and led the Royals to five victories—more than twice the win output of the previous season.  He also groomed the game of first-team all-Freedom Conference selection Scott Melideo. This past spring, in Scranton's first as a member of the Landmark Conference, Hetsko guided another young team to its first conference post-season tournament appearance since 2000.  In addition, four of his players’s garnered all-conference honors, including freshman Carl Caceres, who was selected the conference's rookie of the year. Hetsko joined the Royals’s coaching staff after serving as head men's tennis coach at nearby MarywoodUniversity from 1994 through 2006.  He led the Pacers to Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) championships in 1998 and 2006.  In his final season, Marywood finished with a 14-3 overall record, including an 8-0 mark in the PAC.A certified United States Tennis Association (USTA) official, Hetsko is a 1978 graduate of BloomsburgUniversity with a degree in sociology.  He has served as an umpire for the U.S. Open three times (2005-2007) and many other professional tournaments.
