LOS ANGELES - A total of seven UCLA tennis players made All-Pac-12 Academic teams on Thursday, as the Conference released its year-end scholastic awards for 2012-13.

Leading the way for the UCLA men's team was sophomore Dennis Mkrtchian (Reseda, Calif.), who was a second-team selection. Mkrtchian, an IDS/Political Science major with a 3.57 cumulative grade point average, ranked third on the team in singles wins, ending the season with a 28-10 overall record. He was 19-5 in dual matches, playing primarily at the No. 4 position, where he was 13-5. Mkrtchian was also 21-10 in doubles play this year, playing all of his dual matches at the No. 3 spot. He was listed at No. 75 in the nation in singles in the latest ITA rankings released on May 2.

The Bruin women were led by first-team selection Kaitlin Ray (Little Rock, Ark.), who is a Communications Studies major with a 3.92 GPA. Ray, a sophomore, was slowed during much of UCLA's 2013 season due to injury. She did, however, appear in six dual matches for the Bruins, going 5-1 in singles. Ray played extensively in the fall, going 10-4 in tournament action. She was listed at No. 108 in the May 2 ITA singles rankings.

Five other UCLA tennis players earned Honorable Mention academic acclaim on Thursday. Alex Brigham, Marcos Giron, Adrien Puget and Clay Thompson were recognized on the men's side, while Courtney Dolehide earned the honor for the Bruin women.
