AT UNLV: An honors candidate who looks to return to the NCAA singles tournament, the talented Brit is back for his senior season ... A physically gifted competitor who is back to 100 percent after battling a bad back as a junior ... The 2007 ITA Mountain Region Player to Watch was ranked 49th in the preseason poll and 111th to start the spring campaign ... A candidate for MWC Player of the Year, he will again play No. 1 singles and doubles for the Rebels ... Lost both of his matches at October’s D’Novo ITA Men’s All-American Championships held in Tulsa ... Playing in the main draw’s first round, he was just two games away from upsetting 12th-seeded Nate Schnugg of Georgia, but lost the second set and the match, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 ... Facing Stanford’s 66th-ranked Richard Wire later in the day, Wronski dropped a first-set tiebreaker 7-5 and ultimately was eliminated 7-6, 6-1 ... Wrapped up his final fall season on a high note by winning the Rebel Classic Flight One singles title, including downing Cal’s Kallim Stewart (No. 64 in January rankings) 6-0, 6-4 in the semis ... Broke into the national ITA rankings at No. 87 on Feb. 21, 2007, and closed his sophomore campaign at No. 50, which marked the highest final singles ranking by a Rebel since Asaf Tishler closed at 45 in 1999 ... Earned at-large bid to NCAA Singles Championship and became first Rebel to win a match at the national event since 2005 ... Ranked 60th at the time, Wronski swept Auburn’s 56th-ranked Alex Schweizer 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to advance to the second round, where he was ousted by fifth-ranked Kevin Anderson of Illinois 6-1, 6-3 ... Also played No. 1 doubles with partner Brett Hunter and finished 13-15 overall ... Duo went 3-3 vs. MWC opponents en route to being named all-conference ... Pair upset 52nd-ranked Mann and Ganger from Utah in UNLV’s first-round victory at MWC tournament and then finished off top team from BYU to help Rebels win league title two days later ... Became second Rebel to ever be named a conference player of the week three times in one season, joining former All-American Thomas Schneiter (2002) ... Earned the award Feb. 22, March 16 and May 3 ... Picked up biggest victory of his career on March 12 when he stunned the nation’s third-ranked player, Todd Paul of Wake Forest, in straight sets 6-1, 7-5 ... Wronski finished 8-9 vs. ranked opponents as a sophomore with his other wins over top-50 players being a straight-setter over No. 26 Jakub Cech of Fresno State on Feb. 18, and a sweep of No. 47 Zach Ganger in his team’s first-round win over Utah at the MWC tournament on April 26 ... Joined Asaf Tishler (1997) and Roger Pettersson (1994) as the only Rebels to be named ITA Regional Player to Watch ... Turned in a 3-3 fall tourney record in singles and a 2-2 doubles mark. 2006: One of team’s two midyear additions but the only freshman to join squad for spring semester ... A talented rookie who tied for team lead in singles victories with a 15-4 mark despite only playing dual matches ... Led the Rebels in dual-match winning percentage in both singles (.789) and doubles (.667) as a freshman ... Competed at spots 2-5 but worked primarily on court three where he went 7-3 ... Won his first seven matches and 13 of his first 14 as a collegian ... Finished 6-1 vs. opponents in the Mountain Region ... Easily downed players from both Ball State and South Carolina to help Rebels pull two upsets in mid-March ... Breezed by Nick Coutts at No. 3 to help UNLV upset higher-ranked Utah on April 1 ...
