 John Stanley
John Stanley’s love of tennis has kept him close to the Purple Aces’ program as an assistant coach in addition to his role as Director of Athletics at the University of Evansville.

One of the most highly respected business leaders in Evansville, and one of the area’s best tennis coaches, Stanley retired as president of Old National Bank  in order to become athletics director.  Helping with the Aces’ tennis program and serving as director of the Purple Aces Club brought him close to the athletics department at UE several years ago, and he was a very popular addition to the University’s management as director of athletics.  This is the fifth year in which he has helped coach the tennis team.

Stanley has also helped establish the Friends of UE Tennis program, which now includes more than 30 individuals and families who help the program grow.

Prior to his involvement with the tennis program at UE, Stanley served as president of the Evansville Tennis Club. He was also the assistant tennis coach at Evansville Harrison High School, serving as the assistant for the boys' tennis team for nine years and the girls’ team for four years.  Stanley was a varsity tennis letterwinner four years while attending Hanover College, and graduated from Hanover in 1972.  He obtained his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Evansville in 1982.

Stanley served in the banking industry for more than 30 years before coming to UE full-time. He has been president of the University of Evansville Purple Aces Club, an adjunct faculty member in the school of business administration at UE, and was a member of the University of Evansville Board of Visitors.

John and his wife, Suzie, have two grown children–Carrie and John.
