Tennis Staff
 Steve Nash
Asst Coach
Univ. of Iowa
Steve Nash is in his first full season as assistant coach of the Iowa men's tennis program. No newcomer to the Hawkeyes, Steve served previous stints as a volunteer assistant and a strength and conditioning coach. Nash replaces Matt Brothers - a long-time Iowa assistant - who is now the head men's tennis coach at DePaul University.

Nash had a very successful college playing career. He began at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS, where he earned all-America and all-conference honors. He was also named to the JCCC Hall of Fame in 2006 - the only men's tennis player to ever earn that honor.

Nash transferred to Drake University where he earned a bachelor's degree in environmental science. He played on outstanding Drake teams, which were ranked in the top 30 nationally, earning all-conference honors in singles and doubles. He participated in the NCAA tournament and was a team co-captain for the Bulldogs.

From 2002 to present, Nash has served as the University of Iowa's Recreation Services Tennis Director. In that capacity, he has been in charge of all University tennis programs.

According to Hawkeye Head Coach Steve Houghton, "Steve is a terrific addition to our staff and program. He has a great tennis background, knows the game inside and out, is a great motivator and relates extremely well to the guys on the team. We're very fortunate to have him here."

Nash is a native of Burlington, IA. He and his wife, Christina, have two children, Sidney and Alexis.
