Fall 2001: Mariana posted a 7-10 overall record and an 0-2 dual record at No .4. She teamed with Paige Eber to go 3-7 in doubles and 0-2 in dual match doubles play. She had a nice outing at the Louisville Invitational where she went 2-2 with wins over Indiana State and Tennessee Tech in Flight B. She finished the fall season with a win in the Conference USA Individual Tournament over a player from Southern Miss.

As a Freshman: Last year, Mariana went 20-16 in singles primarily playing No. 6. She was the only member of the squad to have a winning record in singles. Teamed with Paige Eber, she went 6-8 overall at No. 3 and with Kelly Kiehna, she was 3-9 and 1-4 in dual meets at No. 3 doubles. In the fall of 2000, she won five singles matches for Louisville with wins over players from Illinois, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Belmont and Eastern Illinois. Advanced to the “C” quarterfinals of the Louisville Invitational Tournament. Combined with Kelly Kiehna for a 2-5 doubles record.

In High School: State champion in 1999 and 2000... Ranked No. 7 in North Carolina (U-16). Received “Coaches Choice Award - 1999. Doubles conference champion - 1999 and 2000. Ranked in the top 20 in Brazil (U-14). National Brazilian Doubles Champion (U-14).

Personal: Daughter of Mario and Marcia Torres. Birthdate is April 3, 1984. Majoring in pre-med/psychology.
