 Oliver Steil
UMBC head tennis coach Rob Hubbard named Oliver Steil as assistant coach for both the Retriever men’s and women’s tennis programs.
 
Steil served as a graduate assistant tennis coach at the University of Texas-Pan American from 2006-09 and was involved in all aspects of the program. He also worked at UTPA’s Wellness and Recreational Sports Complex over the past 14 months.
 
The native of Brunssum, The Netherlands, earned four letters in men’s tennis for the UTPA Broncs from 2003-2006. During his rookie season with the Broncs, Steil was ranked first on the team in singles' victories while posting an overall record of 19-13. He won both the singles' and doubles' competition against Lamar University at the Southland Conference Tournament for the 72nd-ranked Broncs. Steil was named the team’s Most Valuable Player in his senior campaign of 2006.
 
The newest UMBC staff member earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2006 and his master’s degree in the same discipline from UTPA in 2009.
