As a Junior in 2001-02: Compiled a 7-4 overall singles record during her junior campaign, including a 7-3 tournament record…competed at the No. 6 spot during the spring season…finished the season with a 7-4 overall doubles mark, including a perfect 4-0 record during the fall season…opened fall play with a 7-5, 6-0 straight set victory over Notre Dame’s Susan Donohue at the Georgia Invitational…recorded two doubles victories with partner Igna de Villiers in Miami’s wins over Virginia Tech (4-0) and No. 20 Notre Dame (4-1) at the BIG EAST Championship Tournament…won each of her five matches at the 2001 Hurricane Fall Classic.

As Sophomore in 2000-01: Smith finished her freshman season with a 7-4 singles mark and a 2-2 doubles record…she went 6-3 in tournament play during the fall season and 1-1 in spring competition…won the Flight C singles title at the 2000 Hurricane Fall Classic…upset top-seeded teammate Igna de Villiers in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) to win the title…began her collegiate career with an upset victory of No. 4 seed Daniela Okal of UCF (5-7. 6-4, 6-2) at the Lady Seminole Classic in Tallahassee, Fla.

Prep: She played No. 1 singles and doubles at Oak Park-River Forest…was named all-conference and Most Valuable Player all four years of her career…she earned all-state, second team all-state and was team captain for two years…boasted a No. 3 USTA ranking during the 1996-97 season…was named to the Pioneer Press All-Conference team and all-academic team.
