2005-06: Outlook
Kim Hartmann enters her first season with Nebraska after a successful career in Germany that ended with a final national ranking of No. 67. According to Coach Scott Jacobson, Hartmann’s all-court game is tremendously sound. She has the ability to hit over her backhand consistently, but can also attack with a slice approach. Her greatest weapon is her forehand, which allows her to hit winners from anywhere on the court. She could be a contributor to Nebraska in doubles because her net game is very sound.
At the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, Hartmann showed her ability by winning her first five matches, advancing to the third round of the qualifying tournament. In the process, she defeated three ranked opponents, including No. 28 Anca Anastasiu of USC and No. 78 Melissa Anderson of Harvard.
At the ITA Regionals, Hartmann advanced to the third round of the Main Draw of the tournament.
Before Nebraska
Hartmann came to Lincoln as the No. 67 ranked player in Germany. She played for Kolomann Grgic and Hana and Steve Guy at Fulda Gymnasium. During the summer, Hartmann competed for the TC GW Fulda club team. Hartmann went to the finals of the German Championships under-16 division. She chose Nebraska over Tennessee.
