2005-06: Outlook

Vanessa Heute (pronounced ) hopes to make an immediate impact in the Husker lineup. Coach Scott Jacobson said he is excited about Heute’s talent, competitiveness and mental approach.

She hits a very heavy ball of the baseline and is capable of hitting a winner from anywhere on the court. Her backhand is definitely her strength which she hits flat and hard from anywhere off the ground. She puts opponents in defensive situations throughout matches with the tremendous pace of both her forehand and her backhand, Jacobson said.

At the ITA Regionals, Heute saw her first action as a Husker.  She recorded two straight victories, including one over Big 12 Conference foe Brittany Brown of Kansas, to advance to the Main Draw of the tournament.  Heute went on to advance to the third round of the Main Draw.
