Former Northern Colorado tennis standout Jan Ikeda joins the Bears coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach for the 2005-06 season.

Ikeda, who played No. 1 singles her entire collegiate career, won 67 matches in her four-year career (2000-04) at Northern Colorado.

During her final year as a Bear, she captured the ITA North Central Regional Singles Championship which was held in Maryville, Mo. That helped propel her to a seventh place finish at the ITA National Meet in Corpus Christ, Texas.

Ikeda claimed a pair (2001, 2003) of North Central Conference (NCC) No. 1 singles titles in her tenure at Northern Colorado and two (2001, 2003) No. 1 doubles titles with teammate Jodie Sato.

A native of Wailuku, Hawaii, Ikeda attended Baldwin High School where she helped her team to three straight state championships.

She graduated from Northern Colorado with a degree in marketing in 2004.
