THIS SEASON: Emilio Gomez enters his third season at USC.

2011-12 SEASON: Gomez earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention... Ended the season ranked No. 57 in singles... Went 3-1 in the NCAA Team Tournament, including a win over Virginia's Drew Courtney in the 2012 national championship for USC's fourth straight title... Reached the NCAA Singles Round of 32... Went 36-9 overall in singles, with a 21-5 mark in dual matches... Played primarily at the No. 4 position, going 13-4, also played at No. 1 (2-0), No. 3 (3-0), No. 5 (3-1)... In doubles, went 35-11 overall and 22-8 in dual matches... Was 19-6 overall and 12-6 in dual matches with teammate Yannick Hanfmann at the No. 3 position... Also was 12-3, 10-2 with cousin Emilio Gomez, 2-1 with Eric Johnson and 2-1 with Ray Sarmiento... Entered the spring ranked No. 48 in singles... Was an undefeated 4-0 during the NCAA Team Tournament, playing at the No. 5 position... Named Pac-10 Player of the Week and to ITA National Team Indoor All-Tournament Team for No. 4 singles... Went 24-5 overall in singles, with a 22-4 mark in dual matches.. Played primarily at the No. 5 position (15-3) and also played at No. 4 (5-1) and No. 6 (2-0)... Was 5-1 in Pac-10 dual matches... In doubles, went 18-8 overall and 18-7 in dual matches... Was 9-7 with Daniel Nguyen, going 9-6 in dual matches (0-3 at No. 1, 5-2 at No. 2, 4-1 at No. 3)... HIGH SCHOOL: Gomez was a member of Ecuador's Davis Cup team... Ranked as high as No. 573 in singles and No. 310 doubles on the ATP tour... Won Futures singles and doubles titles in Ecuador, El Salvador, Peru and Brazil, as well as a Challenger doubles title in Guayaquil... As a junior, Gomez has ranked as high as No. 54 in the junior world rankings and won five ITF titles in six tournaments, winning 31 of 32 matches in that stretch, including the 2nd Junior Chile Open, Torneo Internacional de Chile, Copa Mundo Maya of Guatemala, Copa Cristal of El Salvador and Copa Cariari of Costa Rica.

PERSONAL: Emilio Gomez was born Nov. 28, 1991 in Guayaquil, Ecuador... Son of Andres and Ana... Has two brothers, Juan and Alejandro, and two sisters, Rafaela and Manuela... His father was ranked No. 4 in the world singles and No. 1 in doubles as a player, winning the 1990 French Open singles title and 1986 and 1988 doubles titles... Brother Juan played tennis at San Diego State... Lists his father and Rafael Nadal as his biggest sports heroes... Hopes to one day travel to Singapore... Would like to play professional tennis after graduation... Has not yet declared a major, but plans to pursue a degree in business.
