THIS SEASON:
Maureen Diaz enters her second season with the Women of Troy as a junior... Ranks 46th in the ITA preseason singles rankings... Posted a 7-2 singles record in the fall after competing in two tournaments... Advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Regional Championships before falling to eventual champion Sara Walker... With doubles partner Bernadette Bayani, Diaz collected a 5-3 fall record and advanced to the ITA Regional quarterfinals.

2001 SEASON:
In her first season at USC, Diaz posted a 33-10 overall singles record, a 20-6 mark in dual matches and 16-6 record against Pac-10 opponents... She finished with the team’s best record overall in duals and Pac-10... She completed the season ranked 72nd by the ITA... In her first fall tournament, she captured the ASU Invitational Main Draw Consolation Championship by defeating Celena McCoury of Arizona State 6-2, 6-4... She also advanced to the third round of the Rolex Regional and the semifinals of the Pac-10 Indoor Championships... Playing all but one dual match at No. 3, she was a consistent point for the team... Between Feb. 17 and March 17 she won eight consecutive matches - her longest win streak of the season... In doubles, Diaz began the season with partner Melissa Esmero and the pair posted a 6-3 record... In February, Diaz teamed with Bernadette Bayani for a 12-14 final mark... She also played doubles matches with Krissy Hamilton-Heinberg (1-0) and Anita Loyola (1-1)... She advanced to the semifinals of the Pac-10 Singles Tournament before falling to Raquel Kops-Jones of Cal... Diaz and Bayani dropped in the second round of the Pac-10 Doubles Invitational after receiving a bye in the first.

AT UC IRVINE:
Diaz spent her freshman season at UC Irvine and played at the No. 1 position throughout 1999-2000 ... Entering the season ranked No. 79 in singles, she advanced to the first round of the Riviera All-American tournament by defeating Stanford’s Keiko Tokuda in the qualifier ... During the dual match season, Diaz upset current teammate and then-ranked No. 4 Jewel Peterson when USC defeated UCI on Jan. 20 ... Named to the All-Big West first team in singles, and received honorable mention honors in doubles ... She was selected to compete at the 2000 NCAA singles championships - the first UCI player to qualify since 1983 ... At the championships, she fell to San Diego’s Zuzana Lesenarova in the first round ... Finished the season ranked No. 74 according to the ITA with a 16-7 record in dual matches and 27-13 overall record.
