Went 14-6 in dual match play, playing almost exclusively at the No. 1 position... An ITA All-American... Finished the year ranked No. 9 with a 25-9 overall singles record and was 12-6 in dual matches, playing entirely at the No. 1 position... Missed part of Pac-10 play due to pneumonia... Reached Pac-10 Tournament singles semifinals... Jumped 35 spots over two ranking periods to rank No. 18 entering the NCAA Tournament... Named to All-Pac-10 First Team and an ITA All-American... Competed in NCAA Doubles with Luana Magnani, reaching the Round of 16 to finish 23-8 with Magnani and rank No. 18... Received Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention... HIGH SCHOOL: Nelson is a 2004 graduate of Villa Park (Calif.) High... A four-year letterwinner who played at No. 1 singles and doubles... Led her team to four Century League team titles and won four Century League individual singles titles... Became the first Orange County player to reach the CIF Southern Section singles finals three times... Named the 2003 Orange County Register Player of the Year and named to the 2001 and 2002 Orange County Register All-County first team... A three-time Los Angeles Times All-Star first team selection (2001, 2002, 2003)...
