This Season:
Julie Smekodub enters her first season at USC after transfering from Tulane following the school’s cancellation of the tennis program... Was granted another year of eligibility after Hurricane Katrina forced evacuation at Tulane... Ranked No. 101 in the ITA preseason singles rankings... Went 3-2 in singles play and 6-1 in doubles this fall at USC... Won the ITA West Regional doubles title with Anca Anastasiu.
AT TULANE: Smekodub was ranked No. 10 in singles and No. 1 in doubles in 2002 as a freshman at Tulane... Won the ITA National doubles title in 2002, marking the school’s first-ever national title in a women’s sport... Reached the ITA national semifinals in singles... Finished her undergraduate degree as a double major in finance and management.
HIGH SCHOOL: Smekodub is a 2002 graduate of Midwood High School in Brooklyn, N.Y.... Won the city Mayor’s Cup Championship.
