 Raynie Theis

Raynie Theis begins her first year as the assistant coach for Southern Miss Lady Eagle tennis after graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a masters degree in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration and Communications.

As the assistant coach at UMass, Coach Theis helped lead the Minutewomen to the top overall seed in the A-10 Championships and their sixth-consecutive top-four finish.

Coach Theis has had plenty of experience in the sporting field. From 2001-2005, she spent time at the Oak Ridge Country Club (Hopkins, Minn.) as an Assistant Teaching Tennis Professional. She organized and taught tennis drills for all age groups. She also gave private lessons, looking to improve her students' abilities and skill levels.

In the summer of 2006, Theis worked in the United States Tennis Association Northern Office in Bloomington, Minn. as an Adult and Junior Competition Intern. There, she was a Tournament Site Director for Boys and Girls 14's USTA Northern Junior Sectionals, Tournament Director for the Nike Junior Open, and Assistant Tournament Director for the Adult Aquatennial Tournament.

That same summer, Theis was a Fan Relations Intern with the Minnesota Timberwolves/Lynx, facilitating season ticket holder retention and responding to fan requests. As a senior, Theis interned in West Virginia's compliance office. She reorganized and filed student athlete information, monitored coach's recruiting phone logs, attended meetings and assisted coaches regarding new NCAA rules.

Her accomplishments, on the court and in the classroom, are endless. She was a Dean's List honor student, finishing with a 3.9 cumulative GPA, 4.0 in her major. From 2002-2006, she was an ITA Academic All-American and a member of the West Virginia ITA All-Academic Team where she spent four season playing no. 1 doubles and nos. 2-5 singles.  Theis was also a Big East Academic All-Star.
