Mira Radu is in her first season as an assistant coach at Wisconsin. Radu joins the Badgers after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Iowa last season.

"Mira brings a lot of coaching experience, playing experience and enthusiasm to the program," head coach Brian Fleishman said, "She was a high level player that worked extremely hard to be successful, and I know she will bring that same work ethic to the team."

A native of Romania, Radu brings both professional and collegiate experience to Wisconsin. She claimed the Romania National and International Championships in 1994 and was a semifinalist at the Orange Bowl Junior Championships in 1995 and Winner of the Eddie Herr International in 1996. She won additional events at the same level every year before she accepted a full scholarship to the University of Mississippi in 1999.

"It is very exciting for me to be part of such a great family that is the Athletic Department here at the University of Wisconsin," Radu said. "I am thankful that Coach Fleishman and our administration had faith in me and offered me this tremendous opportunity to learn, grow, and serve our student-athletes.

"The future of Wisconsin women's tennis is very promising and I am looking forward to playing an active, positive role in its successful development."

At the University of Mississippi, Radu was a two-time All-American and Academic All-American for the Rebels. She advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Championships as a senior. She was a semifinalist at the All-American tournament and a finalist in the ITA South Regionals. She climbed as high as seventh in the NCAA singles rankings.

During her collegiate career she was named NCAA Women of the Year for the State of Mississippi in 2003, received the Eugenia Connor Award for Outstanding Female Athlete and the Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award South Region.

Throughout her professional career she won several $10,000 tournaments and was ranked 245th in the WTA singles poll. Her largest professional accomplishment came in 1998 with her appearance in the US Open.

Radu graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Mississippi in 2003 and magna cum laude with a master of arts in Spanish from Mississippi in 2005. She earned her Master's in business administration from the University of Memphis in August 2010 and received a Master's degree in sports psychology from the University of Iowa in May 2011.

Born to Ana and Mircea Radu, she owes her tennis accomplishments prior to college to her father, her coach and mentor, and her academic achievements to her mother.
