ALABAMA HIGHLIGHTS
Millie Begovic triumphantly returned to the squad on Feb. 15, 2004, as she helped the Tide beat Florida State, 5-2 with wins in singles and doubles. She had been a 5th-year student assistant on the team until granted a medical hardship waiver to compete in 2004. Her return makes her by far the most experienced player on a young team. Mille scored her 50th career singles win in her first match of 2004.
As a junior, Begovic had her most successful season to date playing primarily at the No. 1 position and finished with an 11-8 dual match record. She played No. 1 doubles with Robin Stephenson and went 9-6. Millie was ranked as high as No. 71 in singles and No. 33 in doubles with Stephenson.
Sophomore (2001-2002)
• Played the No. 3 position for the Tide in singles
• Played No. 1 doubles with Weyli Chang
• Competed in NCAA Doubles Championships with Chang
• Ended the season ranked 42nd in doubles
Redshirt Sophomore (2000-2001)
• Went 5-6 in the fall before having wrist surgery
• SEC Academic Honor Roll
• 6-6 fall doubles record
• Certified cardio kickboxing and spinning instructor
• Worked with UN British Delegation as a translator and logistics officer in Montenegro duing the democratic elections of 2000
Freshman (1999-2000)
• Posted a 11-9 dual match record playing at No. 3 singles
• Played at No. 1 singles with junior Dominique Glinzler and sophomore Weyli Chang
PREP HIGHLIGHTS
• Ranked No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic Section in 1998
• Mid-Atlantic Junior’s under-18 and Senior Champion in 1998
• Played in the European Team Championships in 1995
• The youngest member of the Yugoslavian National Team
• Played in one of the strongest leagues in the world, the senior league of the Bundess League in Frankfurt, Germany
• Traveled with the Yugoslavian National Team across Europe
• Member of the St. Mary’s High School Newspaper staff
• Named St. Mary’s High School MVP for tennis as a senior
• Played the USA Tour (Eddie Herr, Orange Bowl, Sunshine Cup and Port Washington) two years in a row
• Member of the National Honor Society
