 German Dalmagro
German Dalmagro begins his third year as assistant coach of the Kansas tennis program. In just two years, Dalmagro’s impact on the program is noticable. The Jayhawks placed three players on the All-Big 12 team in the past two seasons, and Dalmagro also helped Kansas land a solid recruiting class for 2008-09 that includes three newcomers. Dalmagro came to Kansas following a very successful playing and coaching career at the University of West Florida. Prior to accepting the KU job, Dalmagro had been an assistant coach of both the men’s and women’s teams at UWF since the fall of 2005. During his year with West Florida, both teams reached the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament. While Dalmagro’s coaching career at West Florida may have been brief, his impact as one of the most decorated tennis players in school history was definitely not. He was a member of UWF’s back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championship teams in 2004 and 2005, and was part of the 2005 Gulf South Conference Champion team and 2004 Gulf South runner-up squad. Dalmagaro also put together a fine individual career, at UWF and ABAC Junior College, highlighted by All-America honors in 2004 (doubles), 2003 (singles and doubles) and 2002 (singles and doubles). He was also ranked nationally as high as No. 3 in doubles and No. 11 in singles throughout his career. At West Florida, Dalmagro excelled in academics as well. He and his teammates won the 2004 National Award for highest team GPA, and he was also named to the Dean’s List. Prior to transerfing to UWF, Dalmagro played at ABAC College, where he was the NJCAA Player of the Year in 2003 and the individual National Champion in 2002. Dalmagro’s tennis coaching experience stretches far beyond his days at WFU. He served as the head coach at the Nike Tennis Camp in Lawrenceville, N.J., in 2004 and 2005, and was also a coach at Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, Ga., from 2002 to 2003. Dalmagro graduated from West Florida, earning a degree in business administration with a specialization in management.
