Cubas/Machado Lead Gamecocks at Auburn Fall Invite
AUBURN, Ala. - South Carolina men's tennis put together four victories Friday afternoon at the Auburn Fall Invitational at Yarbrought Tennis Center. Senior Diego Cubas and sophomore Ivan Machado went undefeated on the day, combining for three of the Gamecocks' victories.
Ranked No. 9 in the nation, Cubas and Machado teamed up fro an 8-5 win over Troy's Flight One tandem of Xavier Mason and Branko Weber. Cubas went on to score a 6-0, 6-1 win over Troy's Aurelien Tave in Flight One Singles, and Machado scored a 7-5, 6-2 win over Mario Rolemberg of Troy in Flight Three Singles action. Senior Ivan Cressoni and junior Chris Sheehan combined for an 8-3 win over Rolemberg and Bastian Maucher in Flight Two Doubles play.
The three-day tournament continues on Saturday with the Gamecocks taking the court at 2 p.m. (ET).
