7-6(5))... defeated No. 65 Kris Kwinta of UCLA (7-5, 6-3) to advance to the conference quarterfinals...won the consolation draw of the ITA All American Championship, defeating Virginia's Somdeu De Varman (7-6, 6-3)...reached the round of 16 at the ITA National Indoor Championships losing a close three-setter to Ben Kohlloeffel of UCLA (6-4, 3-6, 6-4)....clinched the Huskies win over USC in the second round of the NCAA Team Championship, a three-set win over No. 92 Johan Berg (6-7(10), 6-2, 7-5(5))...won nine conscutive singles matches from March 11 to April 21...opened the season winning six of his first seven matches...2003-04 (Freshman): Finished as the nation's top-ranked freshman at No. 27 in the ITA rankings...won the ITA National Rookie of the Year award, the first Husky to ever win the honor...named to the six-man All-Pac-10 First Team, the only freshman on the first squad...won Pac-10 co-freshman of the year honors along with Stanford's James Wan...finished with a 27-8 singles record, second to Vlaski's 28 wins...the 27 wins tied for the eighth most in a single season in UW history...was 19-4 in dual play at No. 2 singles to lead the team in dual wins...reeled off an 11-match win streak from Jan. 23 to Feb. 28...routinely dominated his opponents, winning 25 of his 27 matches in straight sets...advanced to the second round of the NCAA Singles Championships, losing to 12th-ranked Hamid Mirzadeh of Florida...was ITA regional singles finalist, losing to Conor Niland of Cal...earned wins over 10 ranked opponents...led the Huskies in doubles wins with 23, the fifth most in Husky single-season history...started the year teaming with Alex Vlaski, compiling a 12-5 record and 8-3 at No. 1 doubles...teamed with Nick Weiss in the second half of the season and excelled at No. 2 doubles, going 10-2 and winning their first eight matches together...finished ranked No. 43 with Vlaski and No. 56 with Weiss in the ITA Rankings...won ITA Regional doubles title with Alex Vlaski, advancing to the ITA National Indoor Championships.

Aleksander Slovic...reached high ITF ranking of 120 in singles in 2000 and 123rd in doubles...attended Josif Pancic High School in Pancevo, Yugoslavia...born in Pancevo, Yugoslavia...parents are Ljubinka and Miodrag Slovic...has one brother, Vladimir (25)...majoring in finance.

Coach Anger on Slovic:
"There are no hiding places when you're playing No. 1. Every match is tough and I think Alex is ready for that. He was only able to play in one event in the fall due to tendinitis in his knee, but he is fine now. He is just that much more solid and consistent and reliable. I think he is going to have his best year yet."
