WINGATE TENNIS HOSTS CAMPUS KIDS’ DAY SATURDAY, MARCH 17

Wingate, N.C.----In conjunction with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the Wingate University men’s and women’s tennis teams are hosting Campus Kids’ Day on Saturday, March 17, when the Bulldogs host South Atlantic Conference opponent Lincoln Memorial University for a 1 p.m. tennis twin bill.

Campus Kids’ Days are designed to expose more junior players (and their parents and coaches) to college tennis varsity team matches. “We want to get more junior players on our campus, exposing them to the fun and excitement of college tennis,” Wingate head coach Michael Cabana says.

The Wingate Campus Kids’ Day will begin at 11 a.m. with a free clinic, complete with games and stations geared to children and teenagers. At 12 noon, participants will receive lunch, courtesy of Chick-fil-A of Monroe and Jersey Mike’s Subs of Monroe. The SAC tennis doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m.

Gamma Sports is partnering with Wingate University tennis to sponsor Campus Kids’ Day March 17. Matt Cabana is the North and South Carolina regional sales representative for Gamma Sports. More notably, Matt Cabana is Michael Cabana’s brother. Gamma Sports will provide children’s nets and other items for the free tennis clinic.

The first 50 registrants will receive a free Wingate Tennis T-Shirt. Participants can register with Michael Cabana via E-mail at mcabana@wingate.edu or phone at 704-233-8384.

University and Truman State (Mo.) University have produced more Academic All-America® honorees during this time period. Wingate’s 51 Academic All-America® honorees (lifetime) is tops among all SAC schools.
