MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Some consider Friday the 13th an unlucky day, but it was anything but that for the Xavier University of Louisiana women's tennis team.
The Gold Nuggets, No. 17 in the NAIA coaches poll, defeated No. 13 Shorter 5-1 and No. 23 Oklahoma Baptist 6-3 in the Auburn Montgomery Invitational. It's the first time the Xavier women beat two ranked teams in the same day.
Xavier's men, ranked 14th, also won twice, beating Reinhardt 9-0 and 23rd-ranked Oklahoma Baptist 7-2.
The Nuggets' victory against OBU was their third in 25 hours since a 5-0 loss to top-ranked Auburn Montgomery.
Xavier's women are 11-4, and the men are 10-4.
