Ng is on pace to set the record for career singles wins at The Ohio State University ... tied at the No. 5 position with 91 wins, Ng has only 36 wins to break the record ... had a career high of 40 singles wins which is second in Ohio State’s history ... finished 40-8 overall in singles and 22-3 in duals ... holds a solid 91-39 career singles record ... was selected to the Verizon Academic All-America Men’s Second Team and the Academic All-Big Ten.
2000-01 (Sophomore) Ng really turned his game around by posting a 33-11 record after going 18-20 a year ago ... clinched two huge victories for the Buckeyes during the campaign ... defeated Illinois’ Nathan Zeder, 6-4, 7-5, to secure the Big Ten tournament championship, OSU’s first since 1991, and helped to snap UI’s 57-consecutive match win streak in conference ... also scored a 6-3, 6-3 decision over VCU’s Mattias Haugland in the opening round of the NCAA team tournament to give OSU a 4-3 win ... opened the spring schedule with 15-consecutive wins before falling to Michigan’s Anthony Jackson, 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 (4/8/01) ... went 20-4 in the spring ... in tournament action, went 4-0 in the Flight B bracket of the Big Ten Indoor Championship to capture the title ... lost in the finals of the Kentucky Winter Slam to DePaul’s Jevgeny Cariov, 6-2, 6-4 (1/21/01) ... took second place in the consolation bracket of the Toledo Rocket Indoors (10/14/00) ... saw limited action at doubles posting a 2-5 record ... maintained a 3.95 GPA and was honored as an OSU Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-Big Ten and as a Verizon District IV Academic All-District Second Team member in which he held the highest GPA ... 1999-00 (Freshman) Pulled through for the team at NCAA team tournament by clinching the singles match against Boise State’s Rio Kuharski (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) … received USTA Bill Talbert Junior Sportsmanship Award 2000 … captured the Singles-B title at the Rocket Indoor Tournament (10/25/99) by defeating teammate Jon Scale in the final ( 3-6, 6-3, 6-2).
University School Ng was the 1997 Ohio high school singles champion while at University School and was the No. 1-ranked player in the U.S. Midwest Region in 1998 … was a three-time Most Valuable Player of the tennis team ... captained the team for two years … was his class valedictorian … won a National Scholastic Gold award in photography and came to OSU as a presidential scholar … won the Wallace R. Holzman, Sr. Award (1999), Dexter C. Adams Memorial Sportsmanship Award (1997), Sheehan Individual Sportsmanship Award (1997) and Western Section Junior Sportsmanship Award (1996) as a junior tennis player … was a three-time member of the Northwest Ohio Davis Cup team.
