After spending her freshman year at Louisiana-Monroe, Elizabeth Stone has come into her own at UTEP. The senior from London has moved into the No. 1 position on the squad in 2002.

2001-2002 Fall (Senior): Stone earned a second straight berth to the Riviera All-American. She finished the fall with a 3-4 record in singles after making the move from No. 3 to No. 1 in singles. She won her first round match at the Omni Hotels Southwest Regional over Nicholls State's Alexandra Nieto, 6-1, 6-0, before falling to No. 29 Katia Kovac of Baylor in the second round. She went 2-1 in doubles action, teaming with Dione Gonales (1-1) and Joanna Furdyna (1-0).

2000-2001 (Junior): Stone finished the season with a 16-18 record in singles action and a 15-16 mark in doubles action. She closed out the fall competition with a 7-7 singles mark, earning a No. 28 ranking in the Southwest Region. Stone won the Rice Invitational Flight A consolation championship and earned a berth in the singles competition at the Riviera All-American pre-qualifying tournament. She earned a No. 17-seed at the ITA Southwest Regional, where she advanced to the third round. In the spring, Stone had key wins over No. 53 New Mexico State's Claire Hamilton and No. 70 Houston's Karine Urbin. In doubles, She recorded the eighth top win total in UTEP annals, when she teamed with Kendall Exelby to finish 12-10 at No. 2.

1999-2000 (Sophomore): Stone compiled a 17-17 singles record for the Miners as a sophomore while playing No. 3 singles. Stone pieced together a seven-match winning streak midway through the season. During the streak she captured the ITA Southwest Regional Championships consolation crown with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 win over Rice's Judith Hagedorn. Stone recorded a 6-4, 6-1 win over Washington's No. 77 Zuzana Stunova in March. Stone went 6-21 in doubles, after teaming with Ana Brnas (2-0), Elena Madjarova (4-13) and Elisa Bjorklund (0-8). Brnas and Stone teamed to win the "C" Flight at the Lady Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

1998-1999 (Freshman): Stone transferred to UTEP after playing her freshman season at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. While there, Stone landed All-Southland Conference honors after compiling a 14-9 record at the No. 1 singles position for Louisiana-Monroe. She was named to the all-Louisiana Women's Tennis second team. Elizabeth also made the Dean's List while at Louisiana-Monroe.

PREP: Elizabeth attended preparatory school at The Henley College in Henley-On-Thames, England, where she played tennis for Andrew Mustil.

PERSONAL: Elizabeth is the daughter of James and Yvonne Stone of Moltport, England. She has one brother (James). She is majoring in criminal justice. She was born 8/8/80 (Damam, Saudi Arabia).
