Auburn University - Facilities

The Luther Young Tennis Complex has been the home of the Tigers since 1978.

The original facility was comprised of six Laykold-surface courts, facing east-to-west, with grandstands facing the sidelines.

The grandstands were constructed with a capacity to hold 1,000 spectators. The Tigers' equipment building is located along courtside at the main entrance.

In 1992, the courts were resurfaced as part of a renovations program initiated by then Athletic Director Mike Lude.

The courts were reoriented in a north-south direction and fences which separated the courts were torn down. Wind screens surrounding the courts were also added during the renovations.

In 1997 a new lighting system was installed as a gift from Phillip McWane of Birmingham, Ala.

Auburn tennis players have at their disposal some of the finest training and fitness equipment in collegiate athletics.

The weight room, located in Beard Eaves Memorial Coliseum right next to the Luther Young Tennis Center, accommodates 75 players and features the latest in strength-building and cardiovascular equipment.

The training room is equipped with four Ultrasound and one Ultrasonic machines, three whirlpools, bicycles and various other exercise equipment. In addition, Electric and Hydro therapy services are offered to athletes.

The men's and women's tennis team have at least one trainer at every practice and match to assist the players.
