Men’s Tennis - ITA West Regionals

    Los Angeles, CA—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s tennis player Zevhan Zakharov battled his way through two tough matches and into the finals today at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) West Regionals.  He also paired up with teammate C. J. Adamson to advance to the semifinals of the tournament in doubles play.

            Zacharov outlasted Sam Ling of UC San Diego in the quarterfinals of singles play with a 6-7, 7-6, 10-8 win and the downed second-seeded Patrice Giraldi of Grand Canyon 7-6, 7-5 in the semifinals.  Zacharov, seeded fourth in the tournament will face unseeded Max Jigante of UC San Diego in tomorrow’s final.

            In doubles play Zacharov and Adamson scored an 8-6 win over David Hutton and Greg Eckstedt of Sonoma State in the quarterfinals.

            Adamson played in the singles consolation bracket today and was defeated by Drexler Dy of Sonoma State 8-5.
