DES MOINES, Iowa – The 27th-rated Drake men's tennis team learned its draw for the NCAA Championship on Tuesday (April 30) and the Bulldogs (24-3 overall) garnered an at-large berth to the 64-team field and a date with No. 35 TCU (18-9 overall) on May 10 at 12:00 p.m. CT at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, Calif.
The tournament selection is the seventh for Drake in program history and the sixth in the last eight campaigns.
The Bulldogs will go in search of their first-ever tournament victory when they square off against the Horned Frogs.
The first-round encounter between TCU and Drake will mark only the second-ever meeting between the two schools. The Horned Frogs took the only previous decision by a 4-3 count on March 20, 1993 at the Blue-Gray Classic in Montgomery, Ala.
The other two teams in the region are top-overall national seed UCLA (24-1 overall) and UMKC (13-10 overall), who will meet on May 10 at 3:00 p.m. CT. The winner of that match will square off against the winner of the Drake-TCU contest on May 11 at 5:00 p.m. CT.
