NORMAL, Ill. - The Drake women's tennis squad will battle for as many as three titles when the Bulldogs close out their stay at the Redbird Roundup after posting a 14-6 combined singles/doubles ledger on Saturday (Sept. 22).
In the No. 3 singles draw, freshman Maddie Johnson (Onalaska, Wis.) will play for the championship after registering victories past Sarah Paulson (6-2, 6-0) of Illinois State and freshman teammate Jordan Eggleston (LaQuinta, Calif.), 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles, it will be a showdown of Bulldog versus Bulldog at the top doubles flight as the tandem of sophomore Nell Boyd (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and freshman Mariel Ante (Riverside, Calif.) will square off against junior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) and Eggleston. Both Drake tandems registered 2-0 marks on Saturday (Sept. 22).
In the No. 2 doubles draw, freshman Lea Kozulic (Varazdin, Croatia) and Johnson advanced to the title tilt with a pair of triumphs.
Action concludes at the Redbird Roundup on Sunday (Sept. 23) as matches start at 10:00 a.m.
