Jason Garriotte is in his first season as the assistant coach for the Furman women’s tennis team. Garriotte graduated from Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne with a bachelor of science degree in business in 2000. He played number one singles for the Mastodons during his four-year career, earning Great Lakes Valley Player of the Year in his freshmen year in 1995. Garriotte earned all-conference honors all four years of his collegiate career, earning a national ranking as high as 65 in 1996.
During his prep career, Garriotte led Plymouth High School to the “Final Four” at the Indiana State Championships in 1993. He also competed as a varsity member of both the wrestling and track teams.
Garriotte presently competes in International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures events, earning a highest national professional ranking of 301 in 2003. He is currently ranked 424.
A native of Plymouth, Ind., Garriotte spent time working in the professional business environment before becoming a certified USPTA tennis professional. He became a tennis pro in 2003, teaching in Ohio and Georgia before coming to Furman.
Jason is the son of Dennis and Teresa Garriotte and he was born July 17, 1976. He enjoys playing acoustic and electric guitar as well as working with computers.
