ATLANTA – Jasmine Minor of Mundelein, Ill., has signed a national letter of intent to play tennis at Georgia Tech, head coach Bryan Shelton announced today.

Minor, who recently won the Illinois state high school title with a perfect 37-0 mark, is ranked 25th nationally and considered a blue chip prospect by tennisrecruiting.net. She dropped only three sets all season en route to the state title.

“Jasmine Minor is a talented young lady and will be a great addition to our program,” head coach Bryan Shelton said. “She is an excellent student and will be an asset in singles and doubles. Jasmine will make an immediate impact on our program.”

En route to her 2010 Illinois state title, Minor lost only one set in seven state matches, fighting back to for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 semifinal victory. As a sophomore, she placed third at the state tournament before taking a year off from prep tennis to compete in national tournaments.

In addition to her dominating prep performance, Minor has tested herself in national competitions as well, earning four USTA national tournament titles, eight sectional titles and 15 district titles. She was named the 2008 Chicago District Female Player of the Year and is up for the award again in 2010

At the USTA National Opens in May 2010, Minor advanced to the semifinals of the Girls’ 18 Singles draw before falling to eventual champion Whitney Kay, 6-4, 6-2. She’s been equally successful indoors as well. In the Midwest Girls’ 18 Closed Indoor Championship, Minor lost only one set in her first five matches, before dropping the championship match to Kasey Gardiner, 6-4, 6-3.
