Hawaii Pacific University Sea Warriors Dominate Gustavus Adolphus

Honolulu, HI (2/7/09) – In the season opening match for the HPU men's tennis team, the Sea Warriors trounced Division III #9 Gustavus Adolphus, 8-1. HPU start the season at 1-0 while GSU fall to 0-2.
HPU opened by taking two of the three doubles matches. Daniel Luedi and Nikola Petrov topped the 14th ranked pair of Mike Burdakin and John Kauss 8-6 in one doubles, and Anton Samuilau and Aleksander Markov defeated Nick Hansen and Eric Ice 8-1 in three doubles.
The HPU pair of Hendrik Bode and Sebastian Bader fell in two doubles to Charlie Paukert and Ben Tomasek, 8-1.
Bode and Daniel Luedi won their matches in one and two singles. Bode easily topped Kauss 6-1, 6-0 and Luedi topped Paukert 7-5, 6-2.
Bode and Luedi hold singles rankings of #30 and #39, respectively.
Bader and Markov both won in their HPU singles debuts. Bader topped Burdakin, 7-5, 6-3 in three singles, and Markov handled Dave Koppel 6-4, 6-4 in six singles.
The four singles match saw Nikola Petrov defeat Patrick Clark 6-2, 6-2, and Jan Hroch topped Peter Wright 6-0, 6-3 in five singles.
The Sea Warriors will have several weeks off before heading out on an early season road trip. First on the plate will be Cal Poly Pomona with the match set for Thursday, February 26 at 1:30 p.m. in Pomona, CA.
