Pomona, CA (2/26/09) – In the first of four road matches, the HPU men’s tennis team opened with a resounding 8-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona. HPU improve to 2-0 on the season while the Broncos fall to 4-4. The match was played at the Kellog Tennis Complex.

The match opened with HPU taking two of three in doubles play. Daniel Luedi and Nikola Petrov topped Joe Madoo and Salvardor Romero in one doubles, 8-5, but Anton Samuilau and Aleksander Markov fell to Josh Lau and Jackie Vachirajongkol 8-6 in two doubles.

In three doubles, Sebastian Bader and Jan Hroch topped Eric Carlstrom and Jeffrey Vachirajongkol 8-5 as HPU held a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.

The Sea Warriors ran away with the match in singles play, sweeping all six matches.

The Sea Warriors return to action tomorrow, February 27, against Vanguard University. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m. Pacific time.
