Waipahu, HI (3/5/09) – Just a day after handedly defeating Division I Presbyterian College, the HPU men’s tennis team shutout Grand Canyon University. The Sea Warriors improve to 6-1 while the Antelopes fall to a winless 0-7.
The 7th-ranked Sea Warriors were no match for Grand Canyon.
Hendrik Bode and Sebastian Bader won in one doubles, defeating Eric Shroder and Brian Kirby 8-6. Jan Hroch and Daniel Luedi won in two doubles 8-1, and Anton Samuilau and Nikola Petrov were victorious in three doubles by the same score.
HPU took all singles matches in straight sets. Samuilau played one singles, defeating Shroder at love. Petrov topped Kirby in two singles, 6-0, 6-2, Aleksandar Markov defeated Luke Larm in three singles also at love, and Jan Hroch won the four singles match over Jonathan Pryzbyl, 6-0, 6-2.
In five singles, Jonathan Lee defeated Andrew Zappala 6-2, 6-1, and Nick Loucas topped Vladica Milenkovic 6-2, 6-0 in six singles.
HPU return to the court tomorrow, March 6, for their third match in as many days. The Sea Warriors face off with Division I University of San Francisco at 3:00 p.m. at Central Oahu Regional Park.
