Hawaii Pacific wins vs Division I University of San Francisco

Waipahu, HI (3/6/09) – The 7th-ranked HPU men’s tennis team faced off with Division I San Francisco today, topping the Dons 5-4. HPU overcame a 2-1 deficit after doubles play to improve their record to 7-1. USF fall to 3-6.

In doubles action, Anton Samuilau and Aleksandar Markov gave HPU their only doubles victory. They topped Mitch Del Rosario and Torin Ching 8-3 in three doubles.

Hendrik Bode and Sebastian Bader fell in one doubles 8-3, and the pair of Jan Hroch and Daniel Luedi dropped a 9-8 score in two doubles.

In singles play, HPU won their four match-clinching games in solid fashion. The Sea Warriors won the three, four, five, and six singles games.

#39 Daniel Luedi topped Michael Carreno in three singles, 6-2, 6-2, and Samuilau defeated Rainer Nachbauer d6-4, 6-2 in four singles. Nikola Petrov won the five singles game 6-2, 6-3 over Einar Hart, and Markov topped Jacob Hartwig 6-4, 6-4 in six singles.

The two HPU singles losses came at one and two. #30 Hendrik Bode fell to Thong Tu 7-6, 6-2 in one singles, and Bader dropped a 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 result to Asaf Cohen in two singles.

HPU return to the court Tuesday, March 10 as they take on Northwestern College out of Saint Paul, MN. Start time of the match is set at 9:00 a.m. at Central Oahu Regional Park.
