Wildcats Close Weekend with Win

BOISE, Idaho – Kansas State women’s tennis salvaged a split for the weekend by defeating Colorado State on Sunday, 5-2, at the Boas Tennis Center.
 
K-State (2-1) captured the opening point of the morning by winning the doubles point for the second time this season. The Wildcats captured the point with wins at number two and three doubles with identical scores of 8-3. The pair of freshmen, Mariya Slupska and Nina Sertic, at number two doubles captured their first win together over Laura Neal and Caitlin Fluegge of Colorado State.
 
Colorado State (0-3) tallied two singles wins over the Wildcats at number two and three singles. K-State was able to fend off the Rams, as senior Katerina Kudlackova and junior Natasha Vieira tallied straight set wins at number five and six, respectively. Sophomore Antea Huljev notched her sixth straight set win of the season by defeating Lauren Strasberger, 6-4, 6-3, at number one. Freshman Petra Chuda endured a three-set match to win a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 decision over Fluegge.
 
The Wildcats will return to action on Feb. 21-22 in Wichita. K-State will face Wichita State on Feb. 21 at 12 p.m., then play a neutral site match against Arkansas-Little Rock on Feb. 22 at 10 a.m.
