Ward is coming off an impressive 10-6 season that saw her go 5-3 in both the No. 4 and No. 5 singles. She finished the season with a .625 winning percentage. Playing doubles, Ward concluded the 2002 season with an 11-6 record as she teamed with Maria Rubert while playing No. 3 flight. The pair had an impressive mid-season run by winning eight straight matches from February 9 through April 6. Played one of the season's most dramatic matches in 2002 when she knocked off Lillian Jamieson of Francis Marion 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (10-8).

Carolyn is the daughter of Richard and Nansie Ward...she has a brother Alan (18) and a sister Melissa (14)...her favorite athlete is Anna Kournakova...Carolyn is a big fan of the South African Rugby team by the Springboks...her favorite food is strawberry yogurt, but the health conscious Ward does enjoy chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream...her favorite television show is Friends...when she is not serving up success on the courts, Carolyn enjoys shopping, working out and listening to techno and dance music...she likes to vacation in Hawaii and most admires her father...she is a Sports Management major.
