Manhattanville College - Recruiting Info
The Manhattanville College Tennis program has established itself as one of the top Division III programs in the New York Metropolitan area. The Men’s program is year-round with training in the fall and our competitive season in the spring. Our year around program, with six Har-Tru courts on campus gives us the opportunity to practice in both the fall and spring. During the winter months, we have access to indoor courts up the street from our campus that allows us to prepare for our spring season and trip to Hilton Head, SC. Every spring the team takes a trip down to Hilton Head, SC where we train and compete over the course of spring break. It enables our players to head into the spring season better prepared and with match play exposure and experience. Our objective is to make our student-athlete participation in our tennis program a rewarding and enriching experience to complement the high academic opportunities afforded by our college. Aside from tennis, Manhattanville can offer you an excellent education. The Princeton Review: The Best 366 Colleges again lists Manhattanville in its 2008 edition, giving its quality of life a 94% approval rating. Students also endorsed the college’s “small classes” and “great library.” Manhattanville received high marks from The Princeton Review for some of the school’s unique strengths. The college was rated #11 in the nation for most diverse campus. It was also rated #18 for best college radio station and #18 for best college theater. U .S. News & World Report: ’s Best Colleges once again highlighted the masters program at Manhattanville, ranking it #35 in the North. The 2008 Fiske Guide to Colleges noted Manhattanville’s strength in art and design and quoted students who called career services “phenomenal”. The guidebook cited quality of life advantages as well, such as the “spacious and very comfortable” freshman dorms and the “gorgeous” location. As such, we are directing our recruiting efforts towards student-athletes, who have demonstrated a strong commitment to both academic and athletic excellence. Manhattanville has a diverse body of 1,671 students and is located in a suburban setting about 30 minutes from New York City , which is easily accessible from our campus by train or bus. More than 80 percent of our classes have fewer than 20 students, and the community is friendly and family-like. Manhattanville offers degrees in Economics & Business Management, the Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, Education, and Fine Arts & Music. Our Career Services office has affiliations with over 350 local and regional businesses and companies (including many Fortune 500 companies), which provide our students with experience in their chosen profession before graduation. While NCAA Division III rules prohibit Manhattanville from awarding athletic scholarships, the college does offer generous financial aid packages to students. Also, Manhattanville is committed to making it possible for students of limited financial resources to go to school here. There are many social activities to enlighten and to entertain you. These activities include trips to New York Yankees, Mets, Knicks, and Rangers games; Broadway plays and Manhattan comedy club; and places such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building . From the higher administration of the college, the professors, to the coaches, Manhattanville College provides you an excellent academic and athletic experience. As important as success on the court will be, we are most concerned with providing an experience that teaches values of leadership, responsibility, and selflessness to prepare our players for life after college. The tennis program has created a tremendous amount of interest on our campus and in our community.
