Mississippi State Men's Tennis Hosts Senior Day Versus Auburn
Saturday, 04/10/2010

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The 55th-ranked Mississippi State men’s tennis team will host senior day this Sunday at 1 p.m. in its final home match of the season versus the 37th-ranked Auburn Tigers. MSU (8-10, 1-7) is on a current four-match skid, while Auburn (8-10, 4-5) is fresh off a 5-2 loss at 17th-ranked Ole Miss this past Friday.

State’s 125th-ranked sophomore George Coupland has had the hot hand of late for the Maroon and White. Coupland has been victorious in his two previous matches, including an impressive come-from-behind win most recently against Alabama. Coupland along with sophomore Artem Ilyushin have been equally impressive in doubles, winning three-straight.

Auburn is led by 20th-ranked junior Tim Puetz, whose impressive 10 wins in dual match play paces the Tigers. Auburn also boasts the 10th-ranked duo in the country, with Puetz and sophomore Alex Stamchev playing at the No. 1 position for the Tigers.

The match is set to begin at 1p.m., with a special ceremony honoring MSU’s lone-senior Chris Doerr prior to the match. Admission is free to all MSU home tennis matches and live stats will be available at www.mstateathletics.com.
