STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Mississippi State men’s tennis team earned its highest team grade point average in 10 years and the third highest all-time for the Bulldog tennis program, with a 3.75 team GPA for the spring of 2010.
“The guys have done an incredible job in the classroom,” said third-year head coach Per Nilsson. “We travel and miss a lot of classes, but they stay on top of things and I’m really proud of their accomplishments.”
The 3.75 mark is the highest since 2000, when the Bulldog tennis team tallied a 3.8 GPA, which is still the highest cumulative GPA in the history of any MSU sports team, men’s or women’s. This is also the highest-mark for a squad led by Coach Nilsson, and it is the second time Nilsson has led the men’s tennis team to the highest team GPA for any MSU varsity sport.
Nine of the 10 members of the tennis team boast 3.0’s are higher, while five different Bulldogs earned perfect 4.0’s during the spring term, with three others following with above 3.5 GPA’s.
