West Coast Conference Announces Women's and Men's Tennis All-Academic Teams
Monday, 04/23/2012

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Megan Moore and David Sofaer, members of the Pepperdine women’s and men’s tennis programs, were named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic team, the league office announced Monday.

In addition to Moore and Sofaer, Ali Walters (Newport Beach, Calif./Creekside Christian HS/UCLA) was placed on the honorable mention squad.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects 12 individuals to the all-academic squad to mirror the all-conference tennis team.  To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average based on the most recently completed term at the time of nomination, be at least a sophomore in both academic and athletic standing, and prove to be a significant contributor to her team.

Moore (Portland, Ore./Jesuit HS) is a sophomore pre-business administration major and maintains a 3.57 grade point average. On the court, Moore is 13-8 in singles and 7-1 versus conference opponents.

In doubles, Moore has partnered with three different teammates for eight victories.

Also a sophomore, Sofaer (Bellevue Hill, Australia/Sydney Distance Education HS) is earning his degree in marketing and boasts a 3.41 GPA. He enters the WCC Championship on a team-best 13 match doubles win streak along with partner Hugh Clarke (Brisbane, Australia/Brisbane Boys College). The duo is 18-3 in duals this season and 22-4 overall.

In singles, Sofaer has tallied wins from the No. 4, 5 and 6 spots in the lineup.

Walters is an integrated marketing communications with a 3.45 GPA. She finished the regular season with a 13-6 singles record and a 10-10 doubles mark.

Both the women’s and men’s teams at Pepperdine won the regular-season West Coast Conference title with perfect 8-0 records. As the No. 1 seeds, both squads earned a double bye and enter the conference tournament on Friday, April 27 at the Barnes Tennis Center.
