PORTLAND, Ore. – Friday the 13th proved to be anything but unlucky for the #35 Pepperdine women’s tennis team, who swept Portland 7-0. With the win, the Waves extend their streak to seven, and improve to 12-6 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the West Coast Conference.

Pepperdine opened the day with a dominating performance in doubles, allowing just five games in the three eight-game pro set matches.

In front of her hometown crowd, Megan Moore (Portland, Ore./Jesuit HS) and partner Andrea Oates (Pretoria, South Africa/Pretoria HS) shut out Sabine Fuchs and Gabrielle Gorence, 8-0.

Ali Walters (Newport Beach, Calif./Creekside Christian HS/UCLA) and Arianna Colffer (Corona, Calif./Buena Vista) downed Emily Mahairas and Alice Tucker, 8-4, while Khunpak Issara (Bangkok, Thailand/Bangkok Patana School) and Lorraine Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS) scored an 8-1 decision against Anastasia Polyakova and Valeska Hoath.

In singles, the Waves continued their dominance, winning all six matches. Issara, Colffer, Moore and Oates all opened with 6-0 first set wins, before clinching their respective matches in the second frame.

Although Guillermo dropped the first set, the freshman bounced back with 6-2, 7-6 wins in the subsequent stanzas to earn her seventh-consecutive singles win of the season.

Ale Granillo (Pachuca, Mexico/Instituto Hidalgo) capped the day with a 7-5, 7-6 triumph over Fuchs.

Pepperdine continues their tour of the Pacific Northwest with a dual at Gonzaga at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14.
