FORT WORTH, Texas –
Senior Macall Harkins
garnered her sixth career Mountain West Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week accolade, the league announced Wednesday. The honor was the sixth for the Horned Frogs this season.
The All-MWC singles selection earned a perfect 6-0 record during the MWC Championship in Albuquerque. The senior routed all three of her singles opponents in straight-sets, while clinching the doubles point in the Utah match. Harkins was one of two Frogs to contribute a trio of singles points during the weekend, while also helping to earn the doubles point in all three matches.
The Palos Verdes, Calif., product claimed the conference’s weekly honor on three occasions this season. The first nod came after the Frogs opened the season on the road at Virginia and William & Mary, while her second accomplishment was given after TCU swept Utah, BYU and New Mexico at home.
TCU (16-10) will open the NCAA Team Championships against No. 36 Tulsa in Fayetteville, Ark. The 2009 Mountain West Conference tournament champions will make their sixth consecutive NCAA appearance and 12th overall in school history.
