Three-time Big South Coach of the Year, Mike Anderson, announced Friday that Stefan Bojic (Novi Sad, Serbia) and Bence-Gyula Toth (Budapest, Hungary) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Radford University Men’s Tennis Team. Bojic, who will join the Highlanders in the spring, was the 16U Serbian National Champion in 2006 and recently reached the finals of the 18U Winter National Championships. In August, he recorded a 7-2 record while competing on the Serbian Futures Circuit, advancing to the main draw on separate occasions and winning one main draw match and earning his first ATP point. To go along with his impressive play on the court, Bojic climbed to as high as fourth in the 18U Serbian national junior rankings. “We are very lucky to have Stefan joining our team in Jan 2009,” commented Coach Anderson, who is in his 13th season at the helm of the Highlanders. “He will help immediately in the upper portion of our lineup. Stefan is a very good player who will give much needed depth to our doubles line up, and of course will be a formidable force in singles.” The winner of 11 national junior championships in Hungary, Toth was his country’s top-ranked junior. On the international junior tennis circuit, he reached No. 66 in the ITF Junior Tennis Rankings. At the 2007 Junior French Open, Toth qualified for the main draw and advanced to the round of 16 before falling to Cesar Ramirez, who climbed to as high No. 3 in the world. Toth is currently ranked No. 6 in Hungary’s open division and recently advanced to the doubles final of the Novi Sad futures tournament. “I have followed Bence’s progress through juniors for a couple years and am very excited to have him joining our team in the fall of 2009. Bence can win big points, and is a tough out who will have a lot of success in D1 college tennis. He is also an exceptional doubles player.” Coming off its second straight Big South Championship, Radford will open its 2009 spring campaign at Florida Gulf Coast, January 16 in Fort Myers, Fla.
