There's one way to spice up a tennis match and that's rock n' roll music baby! On January 24, from 7 - 9pm at Brown University (Providence, RI), rock n' roll music will be played throughout the ENTIRE dual match between Brown and Boston University men’s tennis teams. And yes, it will count toward team records. This puts a little twist to the traditional view of no talking or cheering between points. It also puts a little twist to the way a team prepares and practices. The event will be the first-ever "Rock N' Roll & College Tennis" match, and it also consists of a shortened format with four singles and one doubles match (super breaker played for the 3rd set). Former Harvard Coach and Director of College Tennis Exposure camp, Ed Krass leads the promotional efforts to increase the popularity of college tennis and make it ‘more fit’ for television exposure. It breaks tradition and may raise some eyebrows, but with some college tennis program being dropped, little or no revenue and media coverage, and low fan attendance rates, why not try something new for our favorite sport? Why not try and create an exciting new atmosphere for players and fans, and why not start with a little rock n’ roll!?
