EUGENE, Ore. – Northern Arizona men’s tennis fell 7-0 to Oregon in the 2009 season opener on Friday at the Oregon Tennis Complex. The Lumberjacks posted a 7-15 record last year with a 4-4 mark in Big Sky Conference play. In Kim Bruno’s first match coaching the men’s team after being named Director of Tennis in May 2008, NAU played strong tennis in doubles play, but were ultimately outlasted by the Ducks who earned the first point of the match with three wins. Bruno has coached the women’s program for the last three seasons and will oversee both programs this year.

Former NAU alum and current Oregon head coach Nils Schyllander had his team ready to play as the Ducks completed Friday’s sweep with six wins in singles.

The Lumberjacks will face Portland on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. in Portland, Ore.
