WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 11, 2009) – Rollins kicked off the 2009 season with a 6-3 victory over Flagler at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex Wednesday evening. The 15th ranked Tars won two doubles matches and were winners in the middle four singles to earn the victory.

The 15th ranked duo of Margaret Junker and Kayli Ragsdale got things started with an easy 8-1 win over Chelsi de Cuba and Chelsea Taylor at No. 1 doubles. Allie Steele and Stefaniya Tkach took the No. 3 slot over Deon Miller and Jen Saviano 9-7 while Holly Flemming and Roshni Luthra fell to Roxane Alt and Veronica Figuera 9-8 (6) at No. 2.

Singles play was a battle with four of the six matches going to three sets. Luthra scored a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Figuera at No. 2 and Tkach was a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory at No. 3. Junker downed Fernanda Ospina 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 with Steele taking Saviano 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.

Rollins will be back in action on Tuesday, February 17 at Saint Leo. Competition is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
