Final Stats

Middlebury, CT - The Sacred Heart tennis teams each took home victories over Holy Cross Saturday night at the Middlebury Racquet Club. The women's team lost just one set in winning all nine matches while the men did not drop a set in picking up nine match wins.

On the women's side, junior Julianne Kasinow won two matches, teaming up with Darcy Demers to win the number one doubles match, 8-3, and then taking the number two singles match 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Kate Donnelly also picked up two wins, taking the number two doubles with Mandy Finkelstein, 8-6, and winning the top singles match by a score of 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.

Ashley Amalfe and Sonia Mideva took the third doubles match 8-6. In the other single matches Kristina Chao (7-5, 6-1), Delaney Downing (6-1, 6-3) and Nicole Betz (6-3, 7-6) all won straight set decisions.

Tweleve different players earned wins for the SHU men's team, with no player winning more than one match. Cole Conrad and Jinal Shah took the number one doubles match, 8-6. Matt Cook and Bryan Rodgers won the number two doubles, 8-6 while John Harvey and Joe Lanciotti took the third doubles match by the same score.

Sophomore Kirill Kasyanov was victorious for the Pioneers in the top singles spot, picking up a 6-3, 6-1 win. Chris Ujkic (6-1, 6-3) and Adam Gart (6-4, 6-0) each dropped just four games in winning the second and third single matches, respectively. Nick Mazzarese (6-3, 6-2), Michael Syer (6-1, 6-0) and Jacob Miller (6-2, 6-4) all won straight set single matches as well.
