The Montana State women’s tennis team split its matches played at Sam Houston State. The Bobcats defeated Louisiana-Monroe 4-3 and dropped a 5-2 decision to SHSU.
Against ULM, Montana State swept the opening doubles point winning at all three positions.
MSU’s Stephanie Jasper and Missy Harris recorded straight set victories at No. 1 and 2 singles, and McKenzie Hilmer’s 6-3, 6-4 win over Sharon Makhanya secured the match.
“Coming into the match we had been struggling with our doubles play,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “I’m proud of the way we competed and were able to sweep all three spots. That proved to be a crucial point in the match.”
In its loss to the Bearkats, the Bobcats dropped all three doubles matches.
MSU’s earned its first point at No. 4 singles, where Ali Griffin downed Eleonora Kuruc 6-2, 6-2. Also posting a win was Lisa Clark, who defeated Lilit Martirosyan at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
